On Thursday 12th February, a coffee morning was held at Merrow to raise funds for Transform Trade . This charity campaigns to make trade itself more 'people centred' – which is a totally different way of thinking about trade and business. It fully believes in Fair Trade for all.
There was plenty of choice of homemade cake (seconds were had by many guests but no one was really counting!). A selection of Fair Trade goods were also available to purchase. Long gone are the days when all that was available was tea and coffee. Purchase of goods with the fair trade logo ensures that producers receive a fair price for their work, they are working in reasonable conditions, there is investment in community projects etc – basically all the stuff that we take for granted.
There was also plenty of chat and socialising throughout so I would say that an enjoyable time was had by all – and everyone went home well fed!
