Fireworks and Pyrotechnics – Have Your Say

Fireworks play a big part in many of our favourite celebrations, but they can also bring real challenges for our communities. From sudden, loud bangs that terrify pets and livestock, to the distress caused to vulnerable neighbours or issues with anti-social behaviour, many of us have experienced the darker side of firework season. To address these growing concerns while still allowing everyone to celebrate safely, the UK government has launched a public consultation on updating the rules around fireworks and pyrotechnics.

This is your chance to help shape future laws across the UK. The proposals look at restricting the loudest fireworks, so they are only available to trained professionals, banning high-risk products, and modernising rules for low-risk novelty items. Whether you love local displays, worry about animal welfare, work in public safety, or run a business, your real-world experience matters. Have your say today by taking a few minutes to complete the online consultation.

Great Barn of Wanborough, Westwood Lane, GU3 2JR

The Great Barn of Wanborough is the oldest and most important wooden building in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, built 630 years ago by the Cistercian monks of Waverley Abbey. It is run by a group of local volunteers.

Every year during the Spring and Summer months there are open days and activities. When the Barn is open to the public there is an exhibition in the Barn, describing its history, and local volunteers are present who can provide guided tours. Dogs are welcome.

Teas and cakes available on Open Days.

Admission is free.
