Easter was celebrated joyfully at Merrow. The Church was beautifully decorated with flowers to reflect spring, new life and most importantly – the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Easter Garden has been created by two of our oldest Church members using flowers from their garden. It shows the journey from the cross to the empty tomb.
The Easter Cross is decorated with posies of flowers (again from people's own gardens) during the Easter service. The cross itself is made from the remnants of the Christmas Tree.
The Easter Egg Tree was designed by Church members as a symbol of the Easter season. Eggs symbolise new life and may also hint at the stone being rolled away from the tomb.
After the Easter service, Ama (our minister's wife) had cooked Swiss scones and African meat pies for us to enjoy. Along with a plentiful supply of hot cross buns, everyone was well fed.
