On Sunday 5th July, Merrow celebrated its 71st anniversary in style.    

The service was led by Rev. Keith Beckingham who was Superintendent of the Wey Valley Circuit between 2019 and 2022.  Although not pastorally responsible for Merrow, he had spent many hours at Merrow in the Circuit Office so felt very at home here!  The theme of the service was 'Jesus is the capstone'  meaning that Jesus should always be at the centre and focus of everything.

This was then followed by a family lunch in the Hall.  As always, there was plenty of food.  We were also joined by our friends from the Chinese Church who normally meet at Merrow on Sunday afternoons.

During the lunch, a leaving presentation was made to Uncle George and Ama as they will shortly be leaving Merrow to begin a new ministry in Basildon, Essex.  Gifts were presented, speeches given and George entertained the Hall with a rendition of 'I'll never stop loving you'.  

The Anniversary cake was then cut.

A joyful time was had by all.
