Brownies

Brownies are girls aged 7 to 10 years. We have girls from many local schools and enjoy making new friends.

We meet on Wednesdays from 4.30 till 6.15 pm and have lots of fun completing challenges, playing games, completing badges, doing arts and crafts, cooking, going on walks, having parties, and fundraising for charity.

We are invited to come along to the monthly Childrens Club held in Merrow Methodist Church and we help support their charities – Operation Christmas Child and Action for Children.

Every year we fill shoe boxes with gifts for children in other countries through Operation Christmas Child. This year we filled 57 boxes at Brownies – even more than last year!

We also raise money for Action for Children with events such as Bring and Buy Sales, Strawberry teas, mufti meetings and cake sales. We all enjoy these fundraising events and are very grateful to all the families and friends who support us.

2010 was a special year for us – we celebrated Girlguiding UK’s 100th birthday. We did lots of special Centenary Challenges as part of an award called Adventure 100.

In April 2011 we celebrated the Royal Wedding with an indoor street party in which we invited ladies from the Church. Every Brownie received a Royal Wedding challenge badge.
